This spot has quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors alike, delivering hearty, home-cooked meals that evoke a sense of nostalgia. With a broad menu designed to cater to every taste, it’s a place where families can congregate and share a meal that feels like it was prepared by grandma herself.
As I stepped into The Trace Grill, I was greeted by the warm aroma of frying catfish and the sound of laughter. It’s a bustling environment but that’s part of its charm. Regulars rave about the grilled redfish, which comes with perfectly crispy onion rings and refreshing cole slaw—it's certainly a standout dish that is said to be “outstanding.” The fried catfish, too, earns high praise for its delicious, crunchy coating.
What I particularly love about The Trace Grill is its commitment to quality and freshness. Every dish is prepared with care and served hot, just as comfort food should be. For breakfast enthusiasts, the Sunrise breakfast burger is a must-try, proving to be a fantastic choice according to many. And let’s not forget the signature fried green tomatoes, an appetizer that captures the essence of Southern cooking.
The Trace Grill does not just shine in its main offerings, but also in its sides. Customers adore the sweet potato fries and seasoned vegetables that accompany the meals. One reviewer even noted that the fried chicken livers are worth the trip alone! It’s no wonder the location gets busy at lunchtime. A tip for future diners: try to arrive early or later to avoid the peak crowd!
As for service, the staff is both friendly and attentive, enhancing the overall dining experience. Visitors who choose to utilize their catering services rave about the smooth process and the tasty results, thanks to the dedicated catering manager, Lisa.
In closing, The Trace Grill stands out not just for its flavor profiles, but for its inviting atmosphere and community feel. Whether you're stopping by for a quick lunch or planning a large event, this establishment delivers on all fronts. I genuinely left with my heart warmed and my palate satisfied—making it clear why so many folks regard The Trace Grill as a true staple in Ridgeland.
“ One of my go to restaurants. Usually get the grilled redfish which comes with onion rings and cole slaw. The redfish, rings and slaw are all outstanding. Their fried catfish is also excellent. Service is quick and pricing is reasonable. Pro tip - don’t show up at 12:00 you will have a hard time finding a place to park, will have a long wait to order and get your meal. Get there at 11:30 or wait til 1:00. ”
“ Trace grill is mom/grandma’s home cooking for the entire family! A huge menu, great quality, great variety, all prepared well, hot, fresh and brought to your table. Order up front, give them your name, grab your drink and silverware and find a table. Shortly after, a friendly server will be bringing your lunch. The meatloaf and country fried steak are good. The vegetables are seasoned and prepared just like you like them. Excellent sweet potato fries and onion rings. Folks go here just for the fried chicken livers! Only 2 things difficult about Trace Grill; choosing what entree/sides to order and finding a parking place! ”
“ My second trip here. I came for the fried green tomatoes which you can get as a side or as an appetizer. I got the appetizer and it was good! The burger was seasoned great and huge. Well worth the trip and convenient to Jackson, Madison, canton, and Natchez trace. The staff were great as well. ”
“ I'm from out of state, but I wanted to give this place a try while visiting. I ordered the Sunrise breakfast burger, which turned out to be a great decision. Quite tasty, and a great size for what it cost. If considering a visit, I strongly recommend. ”
“ I love this place so much I decided to use their catering service for a work event. I was very pleased with not only the food, but the service. Lisa, the Catering Manager was extremely helpful and made several suggestions for popular menu options. We decided on Rosemary chicken and Hamburger steak as two entree options, both were a hit. They crowd loved the peach cobbler for dessert as well. Mario delivered our food and was so pleasant to work with. I will be using their catering service again! ”
“ Great local eatery! Lots of menu choices, food was prepared well. Definitely will be going back. Oh, if you are going during lunch, they are busy! ”
“ Busy atmosphere with folks coming from all over the state to enjoy food and fellowship. My wife and I visited with my daughter and grandchildren a couple weeks ago and saw 7 different people we know from and from a wide geographical area. That’s always fun! The food here is simply amazing. Fried catfish, red beans and rice, fried pork chops, steak, sandwiches, burgers oh my!!! So much to choose from with daily lunch specials. One of my favorite eating spots when I am in the area. ”
“ I just went to this gem with our Eat MS / Tri-county foodie group! And I will be coming back soon!!! SERVICE: You walk in & go to the counter with its large overhead menu board. (they also offer regular menus to look at) After placing your order you go to the drink station then seat yourself. They have multiple dinning areas including a private dining room. The staff will call your name, you raise your hand & your food is brought to your table. The staff is very friendly & helpful! FOOD: I really liked this place! The food options had something for everyone, the food came out hot & the prices were very affordable! There are multiple blue plate options that are all available daily. You can choose 2 or 3 vegetables with your meals. Vegetables plates are also available with so many amazing options. If you like onion rings, you "MUST" give theirs a try! I had the cowboy steak. This is a larger version of their chopped steak than the 1 on their blue plate. It also came with a salad. Their parking lot always appears full to me but they do have an overflow lot. ”
